Open to receive. This was the intention for Peace Flow last night.
I drove all the way to the Tetons the other day to watch the full moon set over these incredible peaks. It was a truly amazing experience, and I received many of the answers that I was looking for. I found received them because I just opened up…
Open your heart. Open your mind. Open your life. To love. To light. To abundance.
Here’s a secret: if you want to know what I am struggling with in my life, just pay attention to what I am teaching in class. Pay attention to what I am photographing, what books I am reading, what songs I am singing. And you’ll find all this advice I am trying to give out is really meant for me!
It’s a huge challenge to be a Yoga teacher. It’s a challenge to stand in front of a studio space, & lead a group of people through a very personal practice, something I have found so much joy in. It’s a challenge to let go of body consciousness at times, especially when I am feeling heavy or tired or not like myself.
But when I walk in those doors, when I roll out my mat, & when the first student shows up, I show up. I show up totally for my students. I give them my time & my presence & my compassion, & just hope that they leave feeling better than they did when they first came in. (And thank YOU for showing up & brightening MY day!)
This can be a lot of pressure! I assure you, I am not collected & calm in every moment, I lose my balance, I freak out. And that’s okay. We all do those things sometimes. The important thing is to find the calmness, find the balance, find the breath… & just come back.
So I just wanted to be completely honest with you all, & let you know that I have been struggling lately. I have been having a hard time letting go of things no longer serving me. I have struggled with relationships. I have struggled with feeling unworthy. Stress is an ugly thing, & the way it shows up physically in our lives is not easy to deal with.
It’s okay to let go of trying too hard. It’s okay to put 100% of yourself into one thing at a time instead of dividing your attention & getting way too busy. Busy does not mean productive. If you want to be productive, give time to all things that bring you balance. Give yourself to it 100% & then move on to the next thing. Enough with the multi-tasking already!
And then, once you are dedicated, once you are balanced, once you have let go of the things you no longer need, you can open to receive. Surrender yourself to whatever you are holding back from. Feel what you are closed over, whether it’s your job, your friendships, your romantic relationship/s, your art. Notice what you have been closed over, & just open up to it. Simple as that. Hard as that. (Like most things in life!)
So, that’s the lesson I needed to learn.
I needed to learn how to say no. I needed to learn how to give time & love to myself. I needed to learn what it is in life that fulfills me. And I needed to learn what it was that I was closed over, so that I could totally open up & receive all the blessings that I & you & everyone deserves.
You are so deserving, my dear.
Love, Mama Bear.
