The greatest thing, or perhaps the only great thing, about hitting rock bottom is that there is no where to go but up.
And up. And up. And up.
From this foundation, the opportunity arises to create & live the life of your dreams.
Today, I woke up with more energy than I’ve had in months. Honestly, the past few weeks, I haven’t even wanted to get out of bed. But today, I couldn’t wait to live.
I recently got some great advice: when life gets too crazy, slow down & establish a routine. Even if it’s waking up, making coffee, and going back to bed, just decide on & commit to doing one thing each & every day.
My new morning routine now goes like this:
Wrap my arms around my chest & give myself a hug.
Close my eyes & allow myself to do nothing but breathe for a minute or two.
Then comes coffee, sipped slowly & mindfully while I read my daily horoscope.
That is what I am choosing to make my new morning ritual.
And I am pretty happy about it!
After that, I truthfully do not care if I accomplish anything else during the day! Because sometimes waking up & getting out of bed is the only thing that needs to be done.
But after feeling so great & energized from something so simple, I was ready to take on the day! I was able to get up & eat a healthy breakfast. I was able to shower & spend time giving my body the care & gratitude it deserves for all it does for me. I was able to take care of business tasks, run errands, and do some serious grocery shopping. I slowly cooked myself a nourishing lunch of curried sweet potato, asparagus, chard, kale, spinach, & zucchini with lentils & avocado & goat cheese. It’s delicious & I am eating it with the knowledge that this food made with love & care is going to give me only more energy to carry on the rest of the day with vibrance & vitality.
It’s amazing what doing little things like this does for the soul.
I haven’t felt this nourished & loved by my self for a while.
And in this radiant glow I feel coming from so deep within, I have already changed the course of the lives of people I encountered today. It’s incredible what a smile does for someone. It’s life-changing to the clerk at the grocery story to be asked how they are with genuine interest. It’s uplifting to people to be around someone who is exuding love.
And that folks, is my real yoga practice.
That is how I know I am making the world a better place. It’s how I show my devotion to this greater power working in all our lives. I can hit my mat every single day, but so long as I am not spreading this love & joy everywhere I go, it’s all for naught.
No matter what you have been struggling with, be assured that tomorrow is a new day. That you can wake up & be anyone you choose to be.
You can wake up & immediately choose to be happy.
Choose to feel loved.
Choose to feel held in such a loving embrace.
The choice is all yours.
Repeat after me:
day by day
in every way
I am getting better & better.
Namaste, you beautiful soul.
