How do you handle boredom?
Do you eat though you’re not hungry?
Do you drink though you’re not thirsty?
Do you worry though it be unnecessary?
Do you mindlessly scroll through Facebook?
Do you lose your mind & do whatever possible to avoid feeling it?
Or do you lean in to the absolute discomfort of boredom & rise above it?
Boredom is fucking scary because it forces us to either get busy working or to let go & relax into ourselves.
It causes us to choose what to do.
The next time you feel bored choose to be still.
Being still is hard. I mean like really still. Like you can feel your own body and your own breath and your own emotions and your own awareness.
But you have to get that still. I am telling you, you must.
Every single day, you’ve gotta take time to actively fight boredom with intentional stillness.
Sit down. Get comfortable. Let your eyes gently close. And begin to notice the quality of your breath.
What does it feel like to be you?
Exactly as you are. Exactly embodied. Exactly here now.
Let your breath become slower as your shoulders drop away from your ears.
Relax.
There’s nothing to be afraid of discovering here.
It’s all you.
Relax & breathe & know that boredom is but an illusion, keeping you from yourself.
A teacher taught me this morning, you can never be bored if you remain curious.
Stay curious, my loves.
