I’m moving out. Again.
I feel as though this is all I have been doing recently.
Packing up. Carrying a load. And going on my way.
Unsettled without because I have been unsettled within.
I spent the afternoon helping Virginia & Kalyn move out of the house we lived in for over a year. So many memories in this place. But the memories I stumbled upon today were not ones from this house, from this period in my life.
Instead, I found a shoebox among my things, filled to the brim with memories that seem to have been from lifetimes ago. Letters from friends, letters from family, letters from past lovers, letters from myself, maps of New Zealand & Italy & Washington, photographs & undeveloped film, cards filled with encouraging words that mean more to me now than they ever did. I always wonder why I hang on to these things, and now I know the answer. Exactly for moments like this.
Moments when I need to be reminded.
That I am loved.
That I am capable.
That I am strong.
Moments when I need courage.
To follow my dreams.
To be the best version of myself I possibly can.
Moments when it helps to remember what you’re made of.
Who you are made of.
What experiences have led you exactly here.
What people have affected you the deepest.
Moments when you need to physically see what it is you hang on to.
What it is you need to let go of.
Are you brave enough to let go?
Are you brave enough to be free?
Are you brave enough to believe in yourself?
Are you brave enough to go forth recklessly, whole-heartedly, wildly toward your dreams?
Are you brave enough to do what you know in your heart you need to do?
I believe you are.
I believe you are ready.
I believe you can change.
I believe you can shine.
I believe you can rise above illusion, addiction, self-destruction.
I believe you can feel good in your body.
I believe you can heal yourself.
I believe you can become the you of your dreams.
I believe in you. Do you believe in yourself?
Do you trust yourself enough to go for what you really want?
Do you have faith in tough times that all experiences are good, even when they are bad?
It is good to remember what is most important to you. Who is most important to you.
It is kind to reach out to those individuals & let them know how they have helped you by loving you, accepting you, believing in you.
It is brave to be different.
It is courageous to create & share your art.
It is bold to be confident.
It is humble to give what you can.
It is okay to take what you need with gratitude.
Whatever path you are on, know it’s the right one. This place is exactly where you are meant to be & this is the person you are meant to be. Live it fully while it lasts & let it go when it’s the right time. Keeping moving.
Read a letter you’ve saved.
Study maps of landscape you have crossed.
Forge a new path. One you’ve never been on before.
