Herbs & spices are among some of the very best types of nourishment & healing medicine we can give our bodies. The simpler it is to get them into our pre-existing diets, the more we can begin to reap the many benefits of these tasty plants.
Here are five ways to enjoy them on the daily:
- Amp Up Your Coffee
Add spices like cinnamon (regulates blood sugar levels), cardamom (reduces toxicity/acidity in caffeine) or turmeric (reduces inflammation) to coffee.
Also try a mixture of maca powder (enhances energy), local raw honey & bee pollen (bye, bye allergies), mushroom powder (awesome for the immune system & so much more… basically mushrooms are the best), grass fed butter or ghee (fat slows the absorption of caffeine)… I like it ALL in my morning cup. *BONUS* Blend it all together to make it super creamy & frothy for a latte-like bevy!
- Spice Up Scrambled Eggs
Eggs go with just about anything. Add in some fresh or dried herbs like dill, basil, cilantro, parsley, or thyme. Spices like cayenne pepper, coriander, or turmeric & black pepper compliment eggs like yeah.
- Sip a Morning Tonic
Before putting any solid food into your body, try to hydrate & fire up digestion first with a morning tonic. A shot (or bite) of ginger, honey, salt, lemon/lime is great for belly fire. Other great superfoods to consume first thing: WATER, aloe juice, turmeric, moringa/green powder, noni juice, mushroom powder. Great crazy with your tonic mixtures or keep it simple… let the body guide in what it needs.
- Herbal Nightcap
Instead of having a glass of wine at night to wind down, try an herbal nightcap. Anything warm & milky can aid in better sleep… golden milk, rose or lavender or chamomile teas with milk & honey. KAVA is the queen of mellowing beverages. Loving Gotu Kola & Tulsi Tea right now. And maybe explore adding some other types of ADAPTOGENS to your diet based on what you need.
- Infuse Your Water
If you don’t really like the taste of water or want more motivation/excitement in your hydration, infuse water with herbs like mint, basil, or rosemary. And add in yummy fruits like lemon, lime, cucumber, or even berries.
My healthy obsession with MUSHROOMS is being amplified with the help of Four Sigmatic . Find products from matcha to coffee to lemonade all mixed tastily with mushroom powders.
A great source for buying herbs & spices is Mountain Rose Herbs. They have everything.
Another great place to check out for Ayurvedic herbs, adaptogens & supplements is Banyon Botanicals. They have tons of information about Ayurveda & dosha specific treatments.
Be well, dear one!

If you are new to any of these, take it slow & pick one or two you want to incorporate into your daily routine & see how you feel after a couple weeks. Try not to overwhelm yourself with dieting, focus on nourishment on ALL levels, & know it’s not all or nothing – take baby steps! And above all.. LOVE yourself & every single substance you put in to your body!**
