Today I found empowerment & precious messages in a vinyasa yoga class taught by Lori, an incredibly wise & gently strong teacher. Reminded again of why I so love yoga – this practice of non-judgement, spirited embodiment, presence, mind/body/soul connection, and controlled movement. It has taught me the most essential knowledge over many years of dedication. Today I remembered to honor the process of continual death & birth, of breath in & out, of graceful & intentional transition between asanas.
Yoga is a practice of life. Life is the profound journey of becoming our truest selves.
It’s important to find intentional grace within our transitions on & off the mat. Settling still into a secure pose, posture, place, or moment is yet a fleeting part of life. The transition is where all the good toys come in to play – the breath, the adventure, the mystery, the hope, the ineffable, the dreams, the expansion, the balance of feminine surrender & masculine action, the necessary motion to get from where we are to where we want to be. Instead of rushing to a destination of your own selfish desire, trust in the process of divine will to guide your path of infinite transitions.
As you travel & grow & dance through life, into & out of the presence of loved ones & strangers, shine your original light on all & leave each place & person a little better than before you came. Teach with your I AM when words aren’t sufficient. Love without fear despite the risk. Perpetuate gratitude when the familiar darkness of shadow overcomes.
You are your own container. A vessel. A temple. A source of ever abundant Love. Responsible for your own power & the way you fill yourself up. Others will give & take in unequal & unexpected measure, so it is imperative to remain nourished with your own self-love, however you attain it. We too often seek outside ourselves for this fulfillment of validation & worth. Before unconsciously stuffing with food/drink/media/sex/work, try something like this – take an aimless walk, call a friend, dance & sing to a favorite song, breathe deeply six times, enjoy a scented salty bath, write down your thoughts & feelings. Learn which of these fills you up with healthful & lasting nourishment & engage in that the next time you have a hunger no substance can satiate.
I join my hands as you join yours together at our hearts, bowing in reverence to the challenge, the struggle, the relief, the wisdom, the QUESTions, the fleeting, the magic, the mundane, the transitions, and the life only YOU get to live exactly as it is.
And so, it is.
